Grass to Bioplastics

Turning abundant natural resources into sustainable, eco-friendly materials.

The Problem

The world produces over 300 million tons of plastic each year, much of it single-use plastic, which contributes to landfills and ocean pollution. In Kenya alone, plastic waste is a major environmental concern, with millions of tons polluting waterways and harming wildlife.

Despite the growing demand for biodegradable materials, the alternatives are often expensive and difficult to scale.

Our Innovation

We are revolutionizing the bioplastics industry by developing biodegradable plastics from grass fibers. By breaking down the cellulose in grass and transforming it into a flexible, durable material, we create plastic-like products that break down naturally within months, not centuries.

This innovation promises to provide a sustainable, cost-effective alternative to traditional plastics, with a minimal environmental footprint.

Why It Matters

1. Reduces plastic pollution, offering a sustainable solution to global waste

2.Affordable and scalable, especially for local manufacturing in Kenya

3. Helps preserve natural ecosystems and improve waste management

4.Uses grass, an abundant and renewable resource, reducing reliance on fossil fuels

What’s Next

We are in the final stages of developing the first prototypes of grass-based bioplastics, with plans for launching products in September 2025. These materials will be used for packaging, utensils, and other everyday plastic items, helping create a circular economy.
